CONGRATS TIMES A MILLION! Having a baby is a very exciting time. Since I am an on location photographer the good news is that I can come to you. (as long as there is good natural light in the rooms you want photographed in) Best time to photograph a newborn is within 10 days of birth. If you haven't had your maternity shots....please come do those! You are NOT fat and I promise you will look back on your maternity session with wonder and awe. Best time for Maternity is beginning of your 8th month.
Here are the tips for your bundle of joy:
Try and keep your baby awake for at the very least 1 to 2 hours before the session. The younger they are and the sleepier they are determine the positions your little one is going to allow in a session. The room of the shoot should be on the warm side since we will be changing and/or doing some naked shots with your cutie. (purely optional....although totally cute) Try and plan to feed your baby just prior to my arrival. The less we have to change your sweet one, the better. So if you want the nakey shots....plan on doing those first and then we can add wraps and/or outfits as we go.
Don't apologize if you have to feed during the middle of the shoot. I allot my time for that to happen. Newborn shoots can be an easy breezy one hour or can stretch to three. I just depends on a lot of variables. (the alignment of the stars, moon, shape of your bedroom, if you like animals, okay I'm joking on the stuff in parenthesis). ;-)
I DO NOT bring props. I find that by using what you have already makes for a very unique and personal photography session.
I have a LOT of experience with newborns. Having had a few myself but I also have over 10 years experience professionally. Thank GOD nothing has ever happened other than a lot of poop stained clothes. LOL! I care a lot about your little one so please know I take my job seriously.
